Mixed Messages 79: Subtleties and Shades

I've played the same chords for the past three years. Maybe it was a mental block. Maybe it was fear. I must have played variations of the same pattern thousands of times: D, a, bm, g. Over, and over, and over. Isn't it curious that I got stuck in a repeated pattern? As people aren't we curious like that?

Despite the repetition. I finally understood the chords tonight. My heart connected and the words followed. For three years I played, but wasn't an artist. Sound came out, but without attention to the subtleties and shades. The most difficult part of a repitition is to remain active instead of becoming an automation. It's the difference between monotony and a breakthrough.
